Ablution 33: Natural Beauty

I've been a natural beauty/bath product convert for a while now.  It freaks me out to know there are so many chemicals and fragrances in the majority of beauty products out there.  But keeping things natural isn't always easy!  I've had a lot of failed attempts to make my own products at home.  There was the incredibly salty tooth powder, and the runny facial cream... need I go on?  The staple in my routine is straight coconut oil as daily moisturizer, and honestly, the #1 reason I use it is because I don't have to go through the trouble of combining it with other ingredients.  I was beginning to think I would be stuck in my minimal, boring routine forever when I was approached by Jess from Ablution 33, whose addicting all-natural products opened my eyes to luxury organic body care!

Jess is a Professional Tattoo Artist, former Licensed Esthetician, and she's also a mom.  She knows how important health and wellness is for her children, so using her background in skincare, Jess created a line of non-toxic and organic products for her family to use.  Lucky for us, she decided to share her incredible creations and recently opened up an Etsy shop!  I'm so excited to introduce you to the amazing organic bath and body products of Ablution 33!

Here's a bit about my favorite Ablution 33 products:

♥  Get Naked is a fabulous moisturizing colorless balm.  It softens the lips and has a subtle sweet flavor.  The consistency is perfect: it's never greasy, and its not a paste either.  LOVE.

♥  Kiss of Death is essentially the same as Get Naked, but tinted.  when applied, it creates a natural transparent stain with build-able color.  It's flattering on all skin tones!  I like to switch to Kiss of Death to dress up my look at night.

♥  Tattoo 2 in 1 does double duty as a sea salt and oil combo. I use it both as my scrub and as bath salts.  It dissolves quickly in the tub and softens the water.  And it smells like licorice. Killer.

♥  I've saved my favorite for last: Lips Like Sugar is the best lip scrub I've ever used, hands down.  To top it off, it has the most intoxicating scent and to die for honey-sugar flavor!  I want to eat it.  If only there was a way to smell through a computer screen...  Just take my word for it, you have to try this!  I forget to drink water and get very dry lips. But now, I could neglect my lips for days and look totally haggard, slather on the scrub, wipe it off, smooth on some Get Naked, and I'm completely rehydrated.  Its magic with a one-two punch!

I can't even begin to tell you what a pleasure it has been trying Jess' products and having our little correspondence.  She is so super sweet!  Her products speak for themselves, but to top it off, she has the most gorgeous packaging.  Thank you, Jess, for being amazing and sharing your incredible creations!  Oh, and I love your name (haha!!)

Now visit Ablution 33 on Etsy and 'clean up your act'!

But wait, there's more!  We're hosting a giveaway from Ablution 33!!  I won't say when, but its coming up very very soon.  We're keeping the prize secret for now, but I will say that Jess wrapped this little gift set up super special, and the products inside are incredible.  You'll just have to wait and see for yourself!

Until then, what's your natural beauty secret?

Pony Chops!

At the end of last month, I was super lucky and won custom painted moccasins made by the talented Chantal of Pony Chops, from one of my favorite blogs, Lazy Explorers.  I just got a preview of how they turned out, and they're so fun, I thought I'd show them off and give a big shout-out/ thank you to Chantal!!!  You're amazing ♥

That's my little princess, Alabama, on there! Chantal's really got her "huh?" look down.  Thanks, lady!

Jeeze, Julia... You're Amazing!

There are some major perks that come with blogging.  My very favorite?  Making amazing new friends from other parts of the country!  Judd and I have had a correspondence with the sweetest bloggin' gal ever, miss Julia of Jeeze Julia.  I just love her to pieces!  Not only does she write an addicting blog, she also has an eco-friendly Etsy shop that is out of this world.  She repurposes vintage fabrics into ties for men and women, and hankies too.  I adore her lady ties, and Judd is a major supporter of the comeback of the bow-tie, so when she sent us these presents in the mail, we flipped!  In return, we sent Julia a dress from , so watch for it on her blog.

We had so much fun running around South St. Louis taking photos in our sweet new ties ♥.  Check out this handsome guy!

I just love the fabrics she picks out, don't you?  See more of Julia's creations here, and don't forget to visit her blog!  But remember I warned you when you get hooked ♥

New Products for Spoonflower + Society6

The scent of fall is in the air, and I can't wait for this heatwave to dissipate and the leaves to change. I've been drawing some new Halloween designs, and I'm so excited to share them with you!  Here is a taste of what's available for sale this season at Spoonflower and Society6 ♥

SPOONFLOWER

These vintage inspired Kitters have joined the Bride of Frankenstein, Frankie himself, and Lily + Eddie Munster in my Halloween Horror fabric collection on Spoonflower!  There is also a chevron design in red and linen featuring Kitters and Skullies.

You can find the original Halloween Horror collection for sale here, and to preview this year's additions, visit my design library :)

SOCIETY6

If you haven't heard of Society6, you're in for a treat!  It is a magical place where artists and designers can upload their work and sell prints, clothing and accessories.  Here's a link to my shop.

iPhone cases and skins are available here.

The Kitter Skull design is available in a t-shirt, pullover hoodie and zip-up hoodie here.

Thanks so much for checking out my work!  It means the world to me. I'll be adding more designs as we drift into fall ♥

Pink Elephant, I Presume?

Happy {belated} Labor Day!  We packed the dogs in the car and took a trip up I-55 in search of Pre-war Bicycles and Bakelite... But we ended up coming home with some great photos instead!

It was nice to have the extra day off to get outside and run around the great state of Illinois with the doggies. Judd and I took turns being sick this past week, so the fresh air was something we really needed.  The rain took a break, and we did some exploring around the grounds of one of our favorite Antique Malls- the Pink Elephant in Livingston, IL.  Not only does this renovated school gymnasium boast wall-to-wall ephemera on the inside, the incredible structures outside make it a roadside attraction! What "incredible structures", you ask? Have a look!

Did I mention they have the best Birthday Cake ice cream on the planet?

Even though we didn't find what we were looking for, we did find ourselves a wonderful little adventure!  Which was really the point anyways. In fact we had ourselves such a wonderful time that we decided to traverse further down I-55 about another thirty miles and hit up two other antique malls. It seemed the further out we traveled the more far-out the merchandise got. We actually fell in love with a lot of items at the last two malls... reclaimed wood from barns, old milk crates, and the local people!!! We recommend taking a weekend off from the city life, loading a cooler with snacks and drinks, and driving a good hour outside of your normal comfort zone. You never know what you might find or what might find you.

If you decide to do just that and you happen to find any old pre war bicycles or some beautiful bakelite, you know how to get ahold of us ;)
